February 12th

The 13th Annual, Classic Chevy & Worldwide Camaro Association Winter Nationals brought out 250 + cars and venders to Old Town. They started on Thursday and will still be there tomorrow. The Saint Augustine Cruisers had 12 cars come out today also.

We arrived at about 1:00 PM and the place was already loaded with cars, we were about the 30th regular to show up and we were parked all of the way to the north by the Burger King. What great weather we had, beautiful sunshine and a very light breeze.

Thousands of spectators were already milling thru the streets! Some of the best looking 55-57 Chevrolets from all over the U.S. were lined up along "Trophy Row". The "Cruise Staff" and "Parking Staff" were doing a fantastic job of managing all of the cars and people.

This "Super Chevy Show" had a variety of vendors along "Trophy Row" and in the parking area. A couple of '55 Chevy Movie cars were on display. Bob Falfa's, (Harrison Ford's character in "American Graffiti"), '55 Chevrolet. And the Starring Chevy from "Half Mile highway".

The line up of "Cruisers" awaiting the gates to open at 5:00PM wound down to Florida Plaza. The East side of "Deac Hundley Blvd." was full of "Cruisers" long before registration closed at 4:00PM, the lower 2 parking lots by "Kid's Town" were packed with "Cruisers" before registration closed at 8:00PM.

"Miss Silver Spur's Rodeo" and "Litte Miss Silver Spur's Rodeo" lead the "Cruise" riding in Dave Deans' Red Mustang Convertible.

A great Saturday at Old Town was had by all that came out, the spectators had a parade of almost 500 cars roll past them tonight.

Thank you to Mike T. and the "Cruise Staff" that included Ron H., Mr. Bill, Miss Lisa, Joe R. Gary C., Tom L. and Mike E. and o course the "Parking Staff" that included Cary P., Rich S., Ben R., and Greg, L. You guys did a great job with this mass of cars and people.

Tonight's random drawing winners that and received the coveted "Old Town Checkered Flag" along with $25 cash, a case of Valvoline 20W50 Racing Oil and a drink from the Tropical Breeze The $50 Cruise-O-Matic was not won so next week it is up to $50.

Congratulations to the Checkered Flag Winners!
