August 6th

Typical Saturday in August, it might rain where you are standing or it might not! In today's case there was only a 70% chance, well about 5:30 we were in one of the "Rainy Spots". The very Hot Weather and the great chance of rain kept many of the "Early Comers" away, but only for a while. The rain stopped in just a few minutes.

Old Town Radio once again kept the crowd entertained along the streets of Old Town, Mike Singer was the DJ right up to and after the Cruise. "daDukes" set up by the A&W around 7:00 to entertain, they always give us a great show and drew a big crowd.

Gary and Kathy brought out their Fairlane for the first time wearing it's new coat of paint. It appears to be a little on the orange side when the sun hits it, after dark it is more of a rich red than before. Gary has just a little "Clean up" left to do on it. They were glad to have it back on "Trophy Row" tonight.

One more little rain about 8:00 but by Cruise time 154 cars made that turn on to "Deac Hundley Blvd." to delight the spectators that lined the street.

On a personal note, there are some very important things some of the "Cruisers" are forgetting. Like common courtesy. There is an order to things that make this such a successful and safe event. Mike T. and the Cruise Staff work very hard to keep you safe as well as the spectators. Please try and take direction from the staff and don't try to "Cut in the Line". The lights and sounds some of us may have on our cars are "Crowd Pleasers" however having something "interactive" is not to smart of an idea. Let's not entice the people to step into the street. Tossing "Trinkets" , candy, Blowing Bubbles or anything for the crowd to pick up would not be very smart or safe. Things people could reach out and touch or chase is not very good idea ether. They will attract the spectators that we do not need in the streets! Small children that we might not seen before it is too late.

Let's keep up this 15 year tradition as safe as it has been.

On to tonight's flag winners....

Tonight's random drawing winners that and received the coveted "Old Town Checkered Flag" along with $25 cash, a case of Valvoline 20W50 Racing Oil and a drink from the Tropical Breeze The $50 Cruise-O-Matic was not won so next week it is up to $50. 1 of these 9 lucky winners receive $100 Old Town Cash instead of the regular prize booty.

Congratulations to the Checkered Flag Winners!
