August 27th

Hurricane Katrina left Florida a day or so ago, she has her sights on New Orleans LA. now, and we were experiencing some light of and on showers all day and some great cool breezes, the weatherman said it would rain all day earlier in the week. Well folks, he was wrong! other than a few sprinkles the streets of Old Town were dry.

The cars came in very slowly, the count was only about 30 or so by 5:00. I do agree the skies around us looked as though it might rain. It was more than likely raining all around us, at least in some places. When the gates opened back up the cars trickled in slowly for a while, the light was poor so I did not take to many pictures.

One car caught my attention. It was a '57 Chevrolet 4 door station wagon. These are the cars we actually got to drive as kids, sure we all wanted the Impala 2 Door Hardtops but ultimately we all had to drive the family car. Usually, at least, where I grew up were the "Lower end" models, nothing fancy. The 210's the Biscaynes, Customlines, Classics, all had one thing in common. They were just not the coolest, most were in the "Family Truckster" category. If we were lucky Dad popped for the AM radio.  it sure beat walking!

"The Company" was on stage, this band always rocks the place! Most of the "Regular Staff" were in place tonight. Tommy manned by the gate, Mr. Bill and Miss Lisa signed us all in. Gary was at his post as usual. Great job done by them once again.

The spectator crowd was not let down at Cruise Time. At 8:30 nearly 150 cars rolled on to the "Even" or West Lane of "Deac Hundley Blvd" by "Kids Town".

See you all next week!
