Another Cold Front was headed towards us
and the media promised lots of rain, at least 20 or so "Die Hards" were
encamped along "Trophy Row" by the 4:00 cut off. Then the rain
started, then stopped, then a little harder. As you may have guessed
this meant drying down the cars several times.
Instead of the "Line up" along the frontage road, there were only about
6 cars waiting for the registration to open at 5:00. We got another
break in the rain about 5:30, a few more cars made their way in. The
Sunshine State DeSoto Club had a few cars on the bricks in front of the
General Store, I am sure this weather kept most of the club away.
By 7:00 we actually got a big break in the rain and a lot more
spectators and over 100 cars made it on to "Trophy Row". So for the 4th
time or so we all wiped our cars down once again. Still several Cruisers
decided to leave before the run up "Deac Hundley Blvd."
Even with all the rain 116 cars headed off "Trophy Row" on the the brick
boulevard much to the delight of the, what I thought, large crowd that
assembled on both sides to watch this 14 year tradition "Cruise Saturday
Nite". This week they staff deemed a "No Wake Zone" for the Cruise
route.
As always the parking and Cruise Staff did a great job despite the very
wet conditions.
