October 6th
It is sure acting like June around here, all of the
rain from the over active Tropics is taking it's toll on Cruising. We
had rain all around our hose but not at it, so we headed out a little
early in the "April" our Corvair. "Elvira" our Ranchero had sprung an
oil leak last night so she had to stay home.
We got many calls on the phone with reports of rain
all around Kissimmee, Saint Cloud. Trevor, Bill and Virginia were headed
in from Clermont area. We arrived at the lot next to the Sonic about
4:15 and "Mustang Mike" and Duke were already setting under the canopy
at the Sonic. Trevor arrived about the same time we did.
We all hung out and again were getting calls about
the rain moving n on us. About 5 minutes to 5:00 the rain arrived with
force. We all were discussing the up coming "Reunion Weekend" that was
coming up in Saint Cloud. That "Mustang Mike" and "The Dukes" were only
going to appear on Saturday Night from 7:00 to 11:00PM. There is a bunch
going to Inverness to the "Nature Coast Corvair Clubs" picnic. Leaving
our area about 9:00. Linda and my plan is to leave the picnic in time to
make our usual "Saturday Nite Cruise®" Old Town before 5:00PM.
Bob Berube came by with his latest acquisition a
1972 Oldsmobile 442! This car he had been dealing on for a while.
Trading off his Corvette to a Cruiser in PA. Good looking Original Car.
Shortly after 6:00 "Mustang Mike" called the
Cruise-In a Rainout and we all headed home.
On our way home we were going to fill up the
Corvair, the needle was near the E mark. Well, in the middle West bound
lane of 192 at the light on the Boggy Creek intersection, the needle hit
the E mark and sputtered to a stop! After a Osceola County cop, that
pulled up behind us at that moment helped us push "April" to the side of
the road I called Bill and Virginia, hmmmm, I had the wrong numbers for
them. Bill had sent me an e-mail about number changes but I forgot to
update the phone. So we called Tony DeBlasio and he came to our rescue
with a gas can with 5 gallons of gas! Thank You Tony! even though the
gauge works I am just going to put gas in every 125 miles or so...
Lesson learned.
Here's hoping we get to do the things that we want
to this weekend and See You All Next week!
I did take a photo or two.
