October 20th
What looked might be a Rainout, turned out to be a very nice Cruise-In.
Sixty-Two cars braved the clouds and the little bit of rain we had.
Again the diversity of the cars only matches that of the Cruisers
bringing them to this weekly get together.
We arrived about 4:15, the sky
looked a little cloudy, I had calls that it was raining around us but it
looked as though we may not get any here. While awaiting the Cruisers,
we sat under the Canopy at the Sonic Drive-In with "Mustang Mike", Duke,
Bill Virginia and of course Trevor. We all thought we would eat a little
early. Paul Schwartz pulled in his spot, Big John Rolled in with a great
'57 Chevy. Then we heard a rumble and around the corner came this Black,
Velocity Stacked Big Blocked, "Tubbed out", "Winged", Wheelie Barred
little bitty '55 Hudson Metropolitan. What a sight to see for the first
time. We looked over and it was piloted by Dan and Liz was in the
passenger seat. OK, I now forgive him for selling the J. He sure finds
some great Pro-Street cars.
Ed & Sarah stopped in, they are
still between cars, they had news about their granddaughter that had
been in an accident. She was home and doing OK, she suffered a broken
knee and some other bumps and bruises. Ed's new truck was also rear
ended on his way to the accident that Holly was involved in. This was a
case of the opposing drivers letting their passengers make their
decisions. Both were ticketed for "Failure to Stop at an intersection"
one of them was even driving on a learners permit. Be careful out there!
The rain started and stopped in
about 10 minutes. The Cruisers came in slowly until right up until time
for the drawings. We had several new Cruisers sign up with is tonight.
Louie finally got his '52 Ford back out tonight. Good seeing him and his
Cruiser.
During the closing ceremonies,
Ed Booher, Cruiser #632 was awarded a Certificate from the Florida
Antique and Classic Automobile Cruiser Association. He has been
recognized for his diligent efforts in educating the general public on
the Chevrolet Corvair. He is now to be considered a "Corvair Tour
Guide of the Highest Degree" and to congratulate him on the opening
of the "Corvair Institute of Holopaw, Florida".
Jeff Birch had the correct
Trivia Answer and took home a $10.00 Beef O'Brady's certificate.
Tonight's $105 50/50 was taken
home by a new Cruiser , Gene Palumbo, he registered his '69 Camaro
Pro-Street.
This weeks "Cruiser of the Week"
went home with a long time Cruiser, Russ Bristol, Cruiser #74, with his
'35 Ford Pick up, Hot Rod "Wild Thing". He sometimes comes a little late
and leaves a little early, sometimes in his daily driver, sometimes he
doesn't even make it beyond his rod, but he seems to always be with us.
Thank You, Russ and congratulations.
Roger Fasnacht, Cruiser #81,
should have come out tonight, He would have been $275 richer. Awwwwwwww.
So next week the $300 that is now in the "Cruise-A-Matic" will be drawn
for until some one goes home with it.
This was a great get together
like always.
Here are a few photos.

See you at Old Town Saturday
Nite, providing "Wilma" doesn't visit Central Florida. The Wednesday at
