January 20th

One of those windy Cold January nights, well not to northern standards but those of us that have been in Florida for more than 20 years it was COLD! I know at some Hotel there were people swimming and 20 years ago it could have been me. Well at least it wasn't 8" of snow or below freezing.

Despite the weather we had 56 cars Cruise-In tonight, even had a new registration. Mike Klein, whom we have not seen since before the storms of last year came out with one of his newest acquisitions, a great repli-car of a 1934  Mercedes 500K Roadster, bright red. He has also added a couple of others including 1934 Frasier-Nash Speedster and a 1937 Jaguar SS100 Convertible. We hope to see them one day. Katherine McConnell, his wife finally got her wellness center back open and will start giving a door Prize of a Message as she did before.

Tommy Slaughter brought out the Ol' Buick for the first time since his Heart Surgery, good to see you Tommy and that Old Buick too.

Beef O'Bradys gave us 2, dinners for 2 (up to $25) as door prizes tonight, they have always supported us well, Thank you!

Once again "Mustang Mike" recruited Gary and Chris Vliet to do the shopping another great job! Tony proudly pushed the cart across the parking lot to the trailer.

Walter Yarwood (Cruiser #633) in from Liverpool, NY won the 50/50 of $119, he seeded next weeks by giving back $20! Congratulations and Thank you!

The Cruise-A-Matic would have gone home with Cruiser #94 Lyle & Mary Lemke in their 34 Ford, that is if they would have Cruised-In, Awwwwwwwwwwww. So that means next week we have $70 for yet another lucky Cruiser.

"Mustang Mike" mentioned that on February 11th he will go in to see about that eye surgery that he has been talking about.

The Trivia winner tonight was Ed "Corvair Tour Guide" Booher! We pick on you Ed but it is nice to see some one that is so proud of their car and it's heritage. I guess there are just so many people that have forgotten about the Corvair, keep them alive! I personally enjoy having you share the knowledge that you have about them. All of our Cruisers are very knowledgeable about their cars and love to share what they know about them.

"Cruiser of the Week" went to Cruiser #228 Jim & Shirley Crawford with their 1962 Oldsmobile F-85 Convertible. Jim & Shirley rarely miss a Cruise-In when they are in Florida. Jim has also been providing us with some interesting stories for the "Official Cruise-In News". Congratulations and Thank You!

Other "Cruisers" seen with out cars tonight were the Stowell's from Maine and Ed and Sarah Malloy, thanks for coming out.

Now on to a few photos....

Mike T. wanted me to pass along to all, that next Saturday January 22nd, The Cruise Registration at Old Town will open at 10:00AM so that you can come in early to enjoy the "National Corvette Restorer's Society" Winter Meet!!! -We will see you there!
