The 5th annual Veterans Celebration car show held at the Citrus Tower.
November 7th 2004.
This was a top 50 show and almost 200 cars made it out on this perfect
fall day. There were so many events to go to today that I am surprised
that this one was as big as it was.
The Korean War Veterans Association chapter 188 (South Lake County) was
the host to this event. There was entertainment in the Lobby of the
tower as well as provided by Butch and Jen Johnston all day long. At
1:00 the Veterans Day ceremony took place on the main stage. During the
National Anthem we experienced a vintage war bird, fly over. It was timed
perfect.
In the grassy plaza in front of the tower there were displays from the
Clermont Police department as well as the Explorers post. Several
Vintage show cars were on hand, including Harold Murphy's "El Matador"
always a crowd pleaser. The Military Vehicle Restorers Society had a
large display of equipment from the Korean War Era.
At 1:30, for the 3rd year in a row, the
"Dukes of
Harmony" came on center stage with the music that they continue to
preserve and enlighten the audience. Several Acappella numbers as well
as numbers with CD accompaniments. Always a good show!
The closing ceremonies included awards to the sponsors as well as the
top 50 cars. The
"Dukes of Harmony" received a special participation award.
It was a great afternoon and cause to "Cruise" for, I just might take
this one in again next year.
Here are the photos I took. It may take a while to load them all
initially, there are 70 thumbnails on this page.
Enjoy.......

That was a lot of pictures, I had not seen many of these cars in a long
time, or never before.
See you at the Wednesday and Thursday Nite Cruise-Ins
